Tuberculosis Testing

I recently had to take a TB test for a college assignment. I figured I'd gather some information on the subject and share it.

Tuberculosis is a disease that affects the lungs,  kidneys, brain, and spine. This can be potentially deadly. Symptoms of TB are coughing that lasts more than 3 weeks, coughing up blood,  unintentional weight loss, chest pain, and etc. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ How is tuberculosis treated?

Well there are two types of TB, active and latent. Latent only requires medication prescribed by a doctor to prevent active TB infection. Active TB is contiguous. It is recommended to  stay away from people for a couple of weeks until the medication is in affect. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Why get a tuberculosis test?

If you have active TB then you risk spreading it to your family and friends. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ What forms of TB tests are there?

The skin test, which is the second picture, and also the blood test are two of the forms of TB tests.

By getting tested for TB, you can prevent the spread of the infection to your students and co workers. It is important to vaccinate ourselves and get tested so we can protect our students. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Where can you recieve a TB test?

You can recieve a test at a clinic near you. Also, your family doctor would be able to test you and vaccinate you. If you are an IUP student, the health and wellness center holds clinics which are posted on their website. If you have paid the health and wellness fee then it is free. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️

How often should you get tested?
